Journal #1 2014

Journal Entry #1

1.  I think i have improved on taking more interesting and artistic photos. For example i'll wait till the perfect time to take a picture instead of rushing to take a bad one. I also know how to adjust the white balance incase the photo I'm taking is too dark or light and I also use the color options more on my camera to fit the scene of what I'm taking a picture of.

2.  I enjoy taking pictures of the beach and skies, preferably during, or just after sunset. I also like taking pictures of the water at night because of how dark and mysterious it looks with the moon. I also enjoy taking pictures with flags because i like the movement and how you can frame different scenes behind the flags.

3. I think an interesting subject, thoughtful composition, rule of thirds, nicely proportioned subjects all make up good photos.

4. I'm interested in learning more about other photographers and their styles of taking pictures. I'm also excited to work in the darkroom more and learning about new techniques for making up interesting photos.

Summer Photos

West End Kayaks
I took this picture right before the sunset on a beach in cape cod, i love the different colors of kayaks against the beach and sky

Before The Storm
I took this at my local beach right across the street from me, it right be the hurricain hit and right after i took the picture rain started to pour down. It is also a panorama.

Blues, Reds, and Yellows
I also took this picture at sunset but i loved how in this one the colors of the sky are like a rainbow and match the colors of the boats on the beach.

W.E.R.C.
This was taken pacing by the racing club i use to go to in Cape Cod, i loved how you only see a peek of the water but also a bit of the beautiful sunset.

Long Wharf
I loved how on this night there were many clouds in the sunset which created a cool texture in the sky. My favorite part is the wharf in the distance and the signs up close.

Pep's
This was taken the same time as the one above this, once again i loved the clouds and sunset but in this photo i included the boats in the photo.

Herring Cove
I took this at a national sea shore in Cape Cod called Herring cove, i went one night for a bonfire and thought the sun looked so bright against the dark water and beach.

Beacon Light
I took this on a roof top deck, i love photographing flags and when i saw it waving around with the monument in the background i snapped a picture. it was taken at night so its slightly blurry but i think it adds to the picture.

Marc's
I've photographed this flag many times before, even though it wasn't flowing i still love the open view of the beach and water in-between two houses.

Overgrown
I took this at an old war fort in Rhode Island. they don't allow you to go underground in them but we walked around and i found the graffiti interesting because i don't know what they were trying to write but its cool contrasting with the overgrown brush of the fort.

UpHill
I took this in Rhode Island as well, we were on a nature walk and decided to clime some cliffs. I took the picture at a tilt to make it more interesting then just my friends shadow.

Best Friends.
This is the same cliff as the first one but this time i told my two friends to pose together and i captured their silouettes.

Whalers Wharf
This is right after sunset so the sky is mainly dark but their are hints of pink which i really liked and its a panorama of a dock in Cape Cod.

Portuguese Festival
This was almost at the end of the sunset, looking down the pier. Their are strong leading lines and the beautiful monument in the photo. it was also during the portuguese festival so all the flags are portuguese.

W.E.R.C. LowTide
This is taken at dead low tide where all the water drains out at the sailing club in the west end of where i go in Cape Cod. I always love how calm everything looks when their no water and just boats.
